Our God is a God of the living.

As we come to the end of the Church’s year, the readings during this month of November, direct our thoughts  to the ends of life’s journey in this world.  We all need reminding that life is a journey.  We already share in the victory Christ has won for us, over sin and death, and it is the fullness of that life, the joy of Heaven that is our destination.   The Risen Lord is our hope and our promise.

We have been reading through St. Luke’s Gospel throughout this year, and Luke arranges his Gospel  as a journey that Jesus makes to Jerusalem.   So the climax of the Gospel is the death and resurrection of the Lord.   To know Jesus in our prayer, in our lives, is to know that all is made new through His resurrection.  In death, life is changed, not ended.  Journey’s  end means arriving at our eternal home.    At our Mass today, we open our hearts to the presence of the Lord in our lives, and in our community,  and know that our God is a God of the living.

Thank you very much indeed for your generous offertory collection last Sunday which totalled £494.80.

Many thanks to those who have brought in their Red Mission Boxes and the Boxes for the Catholic Children’s Society.   As the boxes are emptied and the money counted,  you will find your box in the porch, with a receipt attached.  Again,  many thanks.
